Milad Alshomary, former member of the NLP Group at the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, receives the Dissertation Award 2024 of Paderborn University.
Milad finished his PhD thesis at Paderborn University end of 2023 while doing his PhD and working as a researcher in the NLP Group in Hannover, funded by the DFG in the transregional collaborative research center TRR 318 "Constructing Explainability".
In his PhD research, Milad developed computational methods to generate natural language arguments that are tailored towards their target audience. Many of the results of his PhD thesis have been published at leading international conferences, such as ACL 2020, SIGIR 2020, ACL 2022, and several more.
We congratulate Milad and hope that this achievement will help further pave the way towards a successful career, which he meanwhile continues at Columbia University in New York.
